The Office of National Marine Sanctuaries serves as the trustee for a network of underwater parks encompassing more than 620,000 square miles of marine and Great Lakes waters from Washington state to the Florida Keys, and from Lake Huron to American Samoa. Like national parks of the sea, the system of fifteen national marine sanctuaries and two marine national monuments protects marine ecosystems and is part of state and Federal 30 x 30 conservation mandates. Several new sanctuaries are in various stages of the designation process. Learn more at this informative presentation.
