One good thing that has come out of Covid-19’s Stay At Home Order is that people are paying attention to what goes on in their own backyard.   Bird watching doesn’t have to be outdoors.  You can do it looking through a window into your yard.  Birds are there if you look for them.  Birds are colorful, diurnal, noisy and have interesting behaviors.   You don’t even need to buy birdseed.

Once you start paying attention to what is happening right outside your windows you’ll be amazed at what you may have been missing.  Binoculars are helpful but not necessary.  A field guide is very good to have so you can find what type of bird you’re looking at.  There are many good ones available online.

Staying home isn’t so bad once you notice these companions in your yard.  It’s a hobby for everyone; no matter age or ability.  The more you look, the more you see.  It’s a rewarding hobby for all times of the year.   Try it out!  Enjoy!
