About this Position
Are you passionate about educating the public on cultural and natural resources? Have you ever wanted to plan fundraising events and understand how nonprofits work? Intern with the Central Coast State Parks Association(CCSPA) this summer to learn and gain experience in event planning and management and experience the environmental non-profit field!
$360 stipend Bi-Monthly | 10hrs/week in office | 10 months preferred, 6 required
The Central Coast State Parks Association is a nonprofit organization which supports our local Central Coast State Parks. This is not a State Park internship but your contributions will support the 10 state parks in San Luis Obispo county by supporting our Annual Fundraiser Gala that will raise funds for State Parks and our Organization! Your primary focus will be coordination and expansion of fundraising horizons for the Butterfly Ball however you will also assist with CCSPA’s Mind Walk lecture series. The Mind Walks lecture series offers monthly educational opportunities devoted to recreational, natural, and cultural history topics as they relate to the Central Coast.

Your for Butterfly Ball Coordination duties would include :
- Organizing event logistics and communications with all vendors, caterers, volunteers and parties involved
- Providing day of event coordination
- Volunteer, caterer, staff and vendor direction and oversight
- Silent Auction support to CCSPA Board Member
- Graphic and advertising creation and deployment
Your for Mind Walks duties would include Assisting the Executive Director and Operations Manager in :
- Researching and recruit Lecture series speakers
- Organizing in person and virtual event logistics
- Communicating between guest speaker and State Park and CCSPA staff to confirm MInd Walk logistics
- Creating marketing graphics and advertising them on CCSPA and partners social media platforms and event calendars
- Creating zoom links for virtual meeting
- Attending and recording Mind Walk events using CCSPA I-pad
- Editing Lecture video recording in IMovie to match existing formatting
- Uploading final production to CCSPA youtube playlist
- More tasks to be determined as the Internship develops further
Requirements:
- High school diploma
- Interest and familiarity with Environmental topics and San Luis Obispo State Parks
- Skills in time management and written & verbal communication
Preferences:
- Event management and public speaking experience
- Degree in the Environmental or Natural Resources related field
