John Barbieri

John Barbieri is a native of San Pedro, CA. Some of his earliest memories included visiting the Central Coast with his parents, which he in turn did with his own children many years later.

After attending UCLA, John began a career in the energy and maritime field, working first for the federal government on domestic and international oceans policy, including as a member of the U.S. delegation to the Third United Nations Conference on the Law of the Sea. He began his private sector experience with the founding management of Sea World Inc., which operated marine theme parks in four states. He later founded Barbieri International, which provided management consulting services to the energy and maritime sectors. Currently he is managing director of NRCI, a firm that develops global bulk water transfer projects using advanced, zero carbon marine technology.

John has helped lead a number of community organizations including a Chamber of Commerce, museum associations, a child welfare group and an environmental group to name a few.
