For the Love of Monarchs

Please join us on Tuesday, February 11th at 6pm at the Sans Liege Tasting Room in Pismo Beach.

CCSPA and the Pismo Beach Stewardship and Educational Outreach Program have teamed up to create a Western Monarch “ask an expert” night featuring local experts Jessica Griffiths and Crystal Crimbchin! Bring your burning questions about Western Monarchs, we have answers!

Western monarch butterflies complete an amazing migration down the Pacific Coast, overwintering in California groves like Pismo Beach! Unfortunately, the western monarch is now facing a sharp decline in population due to factors like habitat loss, climate change, and pesticide use. These delicate creatures rely on milkweed for breeding and nourishment, but as urbanization and agriculture have expanded, their habitats have dwindled. The butterfly’s migratory patterns are also disrupted by rising temperatures and changing weather conditions. Conservation efforts are underway, but without urgent action, the western monarch risks becoming a rare sight. Western monarchs have declined by over 95% since the 1980s, but it’s not too late. We encourage you to join us this month to ask questions, engage with your community, and learn more about these amazing creatures.

This event is completely free, but donations are appreciated.

We’ll see you soon in Pismo Beach!
