Monica has lived in San Luis Obispo since 2015 when she moved to attend Cal Poly as a Liberal Studies (Education) student. Her love for parks and wild spaces began at a young age as her family frequently camped across California. She began her parks career during undergrad, working as a Park Aide at the Morro Bay State Park and Morro Strand State Beach campgrounds. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science and a Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) certification, she continued her journey with California State Parks as a Park Interpretive Specialist for the San Luis Obispo Coast District. During the two years in this role, she led educational programs in parks and developed interpretive media such as videos, pamphlets, and panels. She has been working for CCSPA since March 2021 and loves her role as Community Outreach Manager. She loves exploring and appreciating all the beauty the Central Coast has to offer!
