Bobcats Mind Walk

Bobcats: The Elusive Spotted Wild Cat of California
Friday, March 17 at 1 PM PST

The bobcat (Lynx rufus) is a medium-sized member of the North American wild cat family. Although these critters are only just bigger than your house cat, they often loom large in people’s minds.

Is that a lynx or a baby mountain lion? Do I need to worry about being attacked? Should I protect my pets and children from bobcats? In this presentation we will be exploring some basic bobcat biology, bobcat habitat use, human-bobcat interactions, and the ongoing research that will help us better understand bobcat populations across the state of California.

Join CCSPA, CA State Parks, and Rachel Roberts, Senior Environmental Scientist & Bobcat Specialist from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife for this Virtual Mind Walk!

Rachel Roberts is a Wildlife Biologist who has been working with various species in central California for over ten years. Rachel received her Bachelors and Masters degrees from San Jose State University where her thesis research was focused on the food habits of bobcats. Her college research experience helped lead her to her current position with CDFW where she is coordinating a statewide bobcat population monitoring project that will culminate in a Bobcat Management Plan in 2025.
