About the Butterfly Ball

The Butterfly Ball is an annual gala fundraiser hosted by CCSPA in support of protecting the ecological and social benefits of state parks. Upon the event’s inception, funds were raised for the Pismo State Beach Monarch Grove and the outreach, conservation, and education related to monarchs. As CCSPA’s reach expanded, the Butterfly Ball evolved to raise awareness for the entire species and the many significant locations in which western monarchs visit. Funds raised partially help support the Western Monarch Trail, a CCSPA-managed project with representatives from federal and state agencies, non-profit organizations, and private entities taking a grassroots approach to educating, advocating, and driving change in support of the western monarch. Starting in 2024 the Xerces Society became the main manager of the The Western Monarch Trail and CCSPA shifted its focus back to the general protection of all species that State Parks provides. Now the Gala supports CCSPA’s main mission of supporting the education, outreach and interpretive State Park Programs that foster the environmental stewards of the future.
